Elections Canada directs 5,600 Toronto voters to address that doesn’t exist

Try to find 44 Room Avenue in Toronto and you may end up thinking you’re in the twilight zone. You’re actually in the dawn of the election zone, where things can get equally weird.

Elections Canada recently directed 5,600 voters in the Toronto-St. Paul’s riding to 44 Room Ave. to cast their votes in the federal election.

The only problem is that the address doesn’t exist in that riding, or anywhere in Toronto. Trust us, we Googled it.

According to CBC News, Elections Canada will send out corrected versions of the voter information cards, which are expected to arrive on Thursday.

A similar snafu was sniffed out in Calgary, where 436 voter cards contained an incorrect address.

Elections Canada spokesperson Leanne Nyirfa told 660 NEWS that with more than 26 million voter cards produced for this year’s election, they were expecting a few glitches.

Voters head to the polls on Oct. 19, with advance polls opening this Friday.
