Pedestrian killed at Lake Shore and Park Lawn

A 70-year-old died after being struck by a vehicle at Lake Shore Boulevard and Park Lawn Road.
It happened around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday.
Police told 680 NEWS the woman was jaywalking across Park Lawn, north of Lake Shore, when she tripped on a sewer grate and went into the path of a truck hauling a dumpster that was heading south on a green light.
A witness called 911.
“I just saw the lady under the truck,” the witness told 680 NEWS.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lake Shore and Park Lawn was closed for the investigation, but has since reopened.
This is Toronto’s 41st traffic-related fatality of the year, including 26 pedestrians. At the same time last year, 15 of the 24 traffic-related deaths were pedestrians.
