Wednesday marks hottest day of 2015

Summer may be coming to an end, but mother nature is making sure it goes out with a bang.

Toronto hit 33.3 C at Pearson Airport on Wednesday afternoon, breaking the previous record set on two separate days by .1 C.

The record all time high for September 2 was set in 1953 at 36.7 degrees.

On July 28 and Aug. 17 Toronto saw the mercury rise to 32.6 C.

No heat alerts were put in place.

According to meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai, the next few days won’t be as humid, but the Labour Day long weekend promises to be a hot one.

“As we head into the long weekend, it looks like those 30-degree temperatures are going to return and stick with us until the middle of next week,” she explained.

Environment Canada will officially confirm on Thursday if the temperature record was broken.
