Woman, 24, found safe after Barrie abduction

Barrie police say a woman was abducted in Barrie on Saturday morning has been found safe, and her suspected abductors are in custody.

Investigators said the woman, who appeared to be under the age of 18, was walking on Dunlop Street East near Owen Street just before noon, when a man and woman drove up in a charcoal-coloured Dodge Magnum.

The man got out of the vehicle holding a black gun in the air, then placed the firearm on the roof of the car. He demanded that the victim get into the car.

Constable Angie Butler said all three people involved knew each other but she can’t elaborate.

Butler also confirmed that the woman is actually 24 years old.

The vehicle was then seen turning northbound onto Owen Street.

Police told 680 NEWS on Sunday that a 35-year-old Barrie area man was armed with a pellet gun. The man is facing weapon offences along with a charge of breach of probation.

A 36 year old Toronto female was arrested and deemed to not be involved. She was released unconditionally.

At 4:25 p.m. Saturday, Barrie police tweeted that the victim had been located and her alleged abductors arrested.
