Kids grabbed their baseball gloves and headed to Leaside’s Trace Manes Park on Saturday morning for a day full of activities and to remember 6-year-old Georgia Walsh.

It’s been a little over a year since Walsh was tragically struck and killed by a van in the Leaside community. Walsh suffered a severe head trauma and died later in hospital

The Memorial All Star Game was started in her memory and to help raise funds to make the park a safe place for everyone to use.

Roberto Alomar, Walter Gretzky and Sportsnet’s Chris Simpson all took part and joined in the Memorial All Star games.

The website RememberingGeorgiaWalsh.com said that the terrible tragedy could have happened to anyone’s child and that the group want to make a safe place outside their home and within their community for children.

A goal of $1 million  has been set to rejuvenate the Trace Manes Playground.

The website says the park is in desperate need of a repairs. That includes a fully fenced area on all sides, a replacement to an old wading pool with a splash pad, replacing the playground sand with rubber tiles, and rebuilt playground structures.
