Thieves walk away with bust by Auguste Rodin from Danish museum

COPENHAGEN – Danish police are searching at home and abroad for two men suspected in last month’s theft of a small bust by French sculptor Auguste Rodin from a Copenhagen museum.
Chief investigator Ove Randrup says surveillance video shows two men with “eastern European features” who are believed to have removed the 25.5-centimetre (10.4-inch) verdigris green patina bronze “Man with the Broken Nose” from the downtown Glyptotek museum on July 16.
Randrup on Thursday declined to comment on reports that the men likely had neutralized the alarm when visiting the museum nine days earlier. They were able to walk away during normal opening hours with the bust in a bag without being stopped.
The bust from around 1863 is one of several of an elderly Parisian workman by Rodin (1840-1917).
