Severe thunderstorm warning ended for Toronto, parts of the GTA

A severe thunderstorm warning for Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area was ended on on Sunday afternoon, but not before some areas received downpours, hail and heavy wind gusts.

Strong winds may have been a factor in a tree toppling onto a house in Scarborough.

Stefan Powell of Toronto Fire told CityNews that there were no injuries reported after a 40-foot tree came down on the roof of home near Lawrence Avenue East and Scarborough Golf Club Road.

Firefighters were also called to rescue two girls who were stuck on the Scarborough Bluffs after the rain made the ground slippery.

The two were checked out by medics after they were rescued, but both appeared to be uninjured.
