Motorcyclist dies in 2-vehicle crash in Etobicoke

A 29-year-old man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Etobicoke.

The fatal collision happened just after midnight on Monday.

The motorcyclist was travelling north on Kipling Avenue at Jutland Road, near The Queensway, when he crashed into a BMW that was making a left turn onto Jutland.

Police said the car turned in front of the bike, causing the motorcyclist to hit the car and burst into flames.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The driver and the passenger in the car were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Kipling was closed in both directions from North Queen Street to Norseman Street, but has since reopened.

Later Monday, Toronto police said the man was the fourth person to die in a motorcycle crash this year. There were three deaths in 2014, police said.

The Ontario Provincial Police said there had been 11 motorcycle fatalities on OPP-patrolled roads this year. In 2014, there were 33 deaths, the worst in seven years.
