5 uses for HOV mannequins after the Pan Am Games

By

There’s been a reported spike in the sale of mannequins in the GTA, attributed to subverting Pan Am Games HOV lane restrictions.

But since the three-plus occupant rule is over as of July 27, we wanted to make sure these life-like statues will be productive members of society once the games are over.

Here are five possible ways people can utilize their former co-pilots after their time “sitting shotgun” is through.

1. Fireworks safety demonstration

The August long weekend is right around the corner — and a popular way to celebrate is by blowing stuff up. But that shouldn’t be a body part…unless it belongs to a mannequin.

The payoff: Teaching youngsters that fireworks are to be used responsibly. Or, to be used to blow up mannequins. (This might be one of those “do as I say, not as I do” type of lessons.)

2. Viral video star

Do you have programming skills? Turn your mannequin into an android and post weird videos of it coming to life.

The payoff: Hilarious (and disturbing) YouTube comments.

3. Start a Kraftwerk cover band

Honour the pioneers of electronic music by staging your own tribute show.

The payoff: Despite the success or failure of the show, there is very little chance of band in-fighting.

4. Create a doppelganger

Whether it’s of you or someone you know, you can always use a stand-in.

The payoff: Useful for getting out of sticky situations.

5. Recreate an 80s romantic comedy

As far as mannequin movies go, the aptly named “Mannequin” is the cream of the crop. Why not do what Hollywood seems to be doing these days and churn out a remake?

The payoff: Can’t be any worse than the sequel.
