A suspect wanted in connection with last weekend’s fatal double shooting in the Queen Street and Dovercourt Road area has turned himself in.
An arrest warrant was issued on Friday for Kamal Hassan, 23, of Toronto.
Police said that same day Hassan surrendered to police. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Abdiweli Abdullahi and Mohamed Abdiwal Dirie, both 26 and both from Toronto, were fatally shot in a condo on Lisgar Street around 7 a.m. on Sunday.
Police had said they were seeking four men, who they described as persons of interest. They are all described as dark-skinned men in their mid-20s.
Police said several shots were fired during the incident and Toronto paramedics said the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Both victims were “known to the police.”
Det. Tam Bui said police don’t know if the victims and the suspects knew each other, or even if the victims lived in the building.
