Suspect in custody after stolen vehicle hit church at Davenport & Oakwood

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a stolen vehicle hit a church near Davenport Road and Oakwood Avenue early Thursday morning.
The car smashed into the building after a short pursuit with police around 4:40 a.m. The driver fled the scene.
Toronto police took a suspect, who paramedics said was taken to hospital with a wrist injury, into custody.
Police brought out the canine unit to help search for anyone involved.
Authorities are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Police said that they are investigating the possibility that the car may have been involved in some recent shootings.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
