Welcome, summer: season officially arrived on Sunday

By Kris McCusker, 680 NEWS

Summer may have officially started at 12:38 p.m. on Sunday but many are wondering when the heat is going to kick in.

Environment Canada climatologist Dave Phillips said this summer is going to be a bit warmer than last summer — by about a degree on average.

But that may not be much comfort to those who love the heat. Last summer, the city didn’t see a single day above 30 C in July.

Phillips said the average daily high this summer is expected to be between 25 C to 27 C with a normal amount of rainfall.

The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting sunny and warm conditions for the rest of the month with temperatures about a degree above average for the month of July.
