Bethesda teases ‘Fallout 4’ announcement

It’s been one of the worst-kept secrets in video games but it seems that Bethesda will finally announce Fallout 4 on Wednesday.

The American video game publisher tweeted the teaser on Tuesday morning with the hashtag #PleaseStandBy and a link to the website which had a 24-hour countdown.

Bethesda has been exceptionally tight-lipped about the existence of Fallout 4. The company has barely acknowledged the many leaks and teasers posted online over the last few years – leaving fans wondering what could be real and what is fake.

When Bethesda announced that it would be holding a press conference for the first time ever at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in June, speculation ran rampant that Fallout 4 would finally be announced.

Within an hour of the teaser being posted online Fallout 4 was trending on Twitter, with many fans losing their mind with excitement.

Fallout 3 was a phenomenal hit for Bethesda in 2008, with the game receiving a number of Game of the Year awards and selling over 600,000 units in the first month of its release, according to the NDP Group.

In 2010 Bethesda released Fallout: New Vegas to moderate reviews but that only made fans appetite for Fallout 4 greater.

The open world action role-playing series takes place following a nuclear apocalypse.
