A Toronto man was found guilty of second-degree murder on Thursday in the 2013 slaying of his ex-girlfriend.
Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah was originally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Bridget Takya, a 27-year-old mother of two.
On January 19, 2013, she was fatally stabbed and set on fire near Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West.
The jury reached their verdict after two days of deliberations.
Sentencing will take place on June 5.
Thirty-six days before she was killed, Takyi told police in a taped interview that she feared for life after she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
