First-degree murder charges laid in 2014 double homicide

A 24-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with first-degree murder after two teens were gunned down in Richmond Hill in 2014.

York regional police were called to 172 Centre St. E., east of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, just after midnight on Jan. 8.

Emergency crews found the three people inside a car that had been shot at several times.

Brenda Pathammavong, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Premier Hoang, 18, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital where he later died. A second man also suffered serious injuries but survived.

Timothy Doug-Hyun Lee was arrested on Wednesday, and has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

There has been no word on the connection between the suspect and the victims but police said it appeared to be a targeted shooting.
