Police release ‘detailed’ security footage in Andrew Surage murder

Toronto police released detailed security camera footage on Tuesday connected to a 2014 unsolved murder.

Andrew Surage, 47, was shot dead during a robbery outside an after-hours bar on Weston Road, north of St. Clair Avenue West on Oct. 5.

Police said Surage’s friend was robbed of his gold chain outside the club and that Surage asked the suspect to return the chain but was refused.

Investigators believe the suspect then went back to the vehicle, retrieved a handgun and fired one shot that killed Surage.

At a news conference on Tuesday, homicide Det.-Sgt. Graham Gibson said the suspect and the three persons of interest — two males and one female — can be seen in the footage.

Watch the security video below:

The footage shows the suspect and three persons of interest arrive at the bar’s parking lot in a purple 1998 Honda Accord, Gibson said.

In one clip, one of the persons of interest walks back toward the car, as another person of interest walks past him and urinates at a nearby car.

After murder happens, police said security footage shows the suspect with a gun in his right hand. It also shows the suspect running back to the vehicle and driving away from the the scene, striking a parked car and almost hitting two people in the process.

Gibson described the suspect as non-white but with light skin, between five-feet 10-inces and six-feet tall, muscular build, black curly hair with a ponytail at the back, and wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.

Last year, police released security images that showed three people of interest who were with the suspect two-and-a-half hours prior to the shooting.
