Sandro Lisi to stand trial on crack video extortion charge

After two weeks of preliminary hearings a judge has ruled there is enough evidence for a trial on an extortion charge related to the Rob Ford crack video.

Ford’s former driver Sandro Lisi was charged with extortion for allegedly trying to retrieve the infamous video.

Lisi was initially charged with two counts of extortion for calls he allegedly made to Mohamed Siad and Liban Siyad in an attempt to retrieve the video.

Siad is the man who showed to tape to Toronto Star reporters.

The charge involving Siad was dropped after the court received new information.

Lisi will stand trial on the charge involving Siyad.

Evidence heard at the preliminary hearing is under a publication ban to protect Lisi’s right to a fair trial.

It’s not known yet when the trial will start.

His next court appearance is May 27.
