Driver hospitalized after Brampton school bus accident

A school bus driver involved in a crash Tuesday morning has been pulled from duty.

The bus crashed on to the front lawn of a home on Fairhill Drive, near Chinguacousy and Bovaird in Brampton around 7:15 a.m., hitting two parked cars and a hydro box.

The 20 high school students aboard the bus at the time were not injured.

Police said it appeared the driver lost consciousness due to a medical incident.

Switzer-Carty Transportation vice president Dan Maradin told 680 NEWS the driver has been pulled from service pending an internal investigation.

Maradin said the driver had two previous minor crashes where no charges were laid.

He added that if the driver is cleared to return to work he will be reassessed by the company’s driver training program.

Hydro One Brampton reported a power outage in the area due to the accident.
