Pedestrian struck and killed by streetcar near Gerrard & Broadview

A vigil was held Sunday night for a 63-year-old man who was fatally struck by a streetcar.

Police said Norman Tobey from Port McNicoll was pinned under the streetcar Saturday evening. Paramedics said he was without vital signs when emergency crews arrived on scene in the Gerrard Street and Broadview Avenue area shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday.

Tobey was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital where he later died.

In another incident involving the TTC on Sunday morning, two people were taken to hospital after a collision between a car and a bus in Etobicoke.

The incident happened in the area of Lakeshore Boulevard West and Brown’s Line around 1 a.m.

Paramedics tell 680 NEWS the victims suffered non life threatening injuries.
