From Saran-wrapped trucks to helpful pandas, an April Fools’ Day prank roundup

By

‘Tis a day when the simplest request can feel like a trap. Dorm rooms are a danger zone. Workplaces are battle grounds. And some other people just don’t care or notice that it’s April Fools’ Day.

But those who do, really do.

Brands have been jumping on the prank bandwagon in a big way in recent years, so of course that is still happening. Why mess with success slash take away all your dad’s conversation ammo for the next time he calls?

WestJet, noted elaborate prankster and maker of videos they hope spread widely on the Internet, premiered a campaign touting their new “Smart Seat,” a seat that transitions from airport lounger to airplane seat.

Google launched a rather trippy mirror search engine at com.google.

Google Japan was treated to much cuter and less-confounding prank: the Google panda. Honestly, this should probably be a real thing.

For all the selfie stick haters out there (and they are legion), the Selfie Shoe is sure to induce grumpiness, even it it’s not real. (Though, once again, why not?)

And Breakfast Television’s very own Kevin Frankish was hit with a prank early (so very early) on Wednesday morning.

Happy pranking, some!
