Elderly woman dies after being hit by vehicle

An 76-year-old woman has died after being hit by a vehicle in the Reiner Road and Wilson Heights Boulevard area, police confirm.

The collision happened just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

Toronto paramedics said the woman was without vital signs when emergency crews arrived on scene. She was rushed to hospital where she later died.

“She was transported to Sunnybrook with serious injuries,” Const. Clint Stibbe explained. “Unfortunately she did succumb to those injuries.”

The area was closed for about four hours while police conducted an investigation.

“The driver of the involved vehicle did remain on scene and we are still trying to determine what happened,” Stibbe said. “As of yet no charges have been laid.”

Police are asking any witnesses to contact 19 Division.

This is the eleventh fatal crash involving a pedestrian this year.
