Customers line up hours for Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake

How long would you wait in line to get cheesecake?

Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake, a popular chain in Asia, opened their first North American location in the Bay and Dundas area last week and folks have been lining up ever since.

The Japanese style cheesecake isn’t as sweet as more commonly known cheesecakes and has a lighter, spongier texture.

The cheesecakes take 45 minutes to bake and can only be made a dozen at a time — which adds up to an almost two hour wait for customers lined up out the door.

Because of the high demand, customers are only allowed to purchase one cheesecake at a time.

Although they would not share their wildly popular recipe, workers said there are 200 hand-separated eggs in each batch of 12 cakes.
