Part of Toronto’s history discovered buried under Fort York Blvd

Construction workers have apparently discovered a part of Toronto’s history buried under Fort York Boulevard and Bathurst Street.

Ports Toronto said the structure is likely a piece of wharf.

The port authority said the shoreline of Toronto was once as far north as Front Street and has since moved south.

The location of the structure is likely where the water would have been.

One archivist also said it might be part of Queen’s wharf, but added that he wasn’t entirely sure.

Years ago, when workers were building the Air Canada Centre, they made a similar discovery but found a long boat that had been scuttled.
