TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (15,103.11, up 20.27 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace and transportation. Up five cents, or 2.17 per cent, to $2.35 on 11.5 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 49 cents, or 3.22 per cent, to $14.71 on 10.4 million shares.

Pinetree Capital Ltd. (TSX:PNP). Brokers and exchanges. Up 2.5 cents, or 15.62 per cent, to 18.5 cents on 5.3 million shares.

Painted Pony Petroleum Ltd. (TSX:PPY). Oil and gas. Down 35 cents, or 4.92 per cent, to $6.76 on 5.1 million shares.

Legacy Oil + Gas Inc. (TSX:LEG). Oil and gas. Down two cents, or 0.99 per cent, to $2.01 on 3.7 million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurance. Down nine cents, or 0.42 per cent, to $21.27 on 3.6 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Up $1.86, or 5.06 per cent, to $38.64 on 3.1 million shares. The company said it almost tripled its profit in the fourth quarter to just under $1.2 billion or $1.09 a diluted share. Adjusted net earnings were $756 million or 69 cents per share, up from $563 million or 52 cents. The energy company is raising its quarterly dividend by half a cent to 23 cents per share.
