Peel Public Health tells CityNews it is investigating after concerns were raised by several Brampton residents over a barefoot child in a pizza restaurant.
One customer posted a photo on social media of the child laying, without shoes, on the counter near the front of the pizzeria.
He then posted a video of the conversation he had with the owner over the issue. The video has since been viewed over 11,000 times.
The incident allegedly occurred on Friday at Cocelli Pizza in the area of Sandalwood Parkway West and Van Kirk Drive.
Peel health officials said that they are concerned about the situation and after viewing the photo they believe the restaurant is non-compliant with the food premises regulation 562 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
They also raised concerns over the possibility of the child being harmed while walking around the restaurant without shoes or socks.
Officials said closure of the restaurant is not likely but that the owners may receive a verbal warning and could face charges under the Provincial Offences Act.
