Vanity of canine variety credited for B.C. beagle winning best in show

ENDERBY, B.C. – The handler for a beagle born in British Columbia says the pooch took top prize at the biggest dog show in the U.S. because she loves showing off.

Will Alexander says four-year-old Miss P has been working the circuit for the last year and has become a seasoned vet who trains like a regular athlete.

Miss P was named best in show Tuesday at the Westminster Kennel Club’s annual show in New York.

Her breeder, Lori Crandlemire, says the honour was unexpected, but the dog is taking all the attention in stride like the star she is.

The dog’s celebratory tour includes dining on steak at a famous Manhattan restaurant, visiting the Empire State Building and meeting Donald Trump.

Crandlemire says there has even been talk of a parade when Miss P — sometimes known as Princess — returns to the B.C. community of Enderby, where she will retire.
