2 patients at London, Ont., hospital test negative for Ebola

Health officials in London, Ont., say preliminary tests on two people under investigation for the Ebola virus have come back negative.

Dr. Chris Mackie, Medical Officer of Health at the Middlesex-London Health Unit, says the pair will remain in isolation at Victoria Hospital until Ebola can be ruled out completely.

Mackie called the results “encouraging” and said health officials will remain vigilant and continue to monitor the situation “very closely.”

London Health Sciences Centre says that the pair were placed in a negative pressure room at the hospital on Tuesday night.

The hospital has not released the names of the two patients and London Health Sciences Centre says there is “no impact to patient and visitor activity.”

The hospital is designated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as an Ebola treatment facility.
