TV Blog Buzz: New ‘Games of Thrones’ preview; inside the ‘Parenthood’ finale

By The Canadian Press

“Game of Thrones” fans who recently went to an IMAX theatre to watch a special presentation of the season 4 finale on the mega-big screen got an extra treat: a two-minute preview of the new upcoming season.

Not surprisingly, a bootlegged recording of the trailer made its way online and New York magazine’s Vulture blog has a list of 10 things that can be gleaned from the sneak peek.

One of the biggest reveals is that there will be at least one female claimant seeking the Iron Throne this season.

The obvious guess is Daenerys Targaryen, but Vulture suggests Sansa Stark and Myrcella Baratheon are possibilities too.

TVLine has an inside look at the teary “Parenthood” series finale with an interview with show creator Jason Katims.

Katims says there was a lot of good stuff he had to reluctantly cut out of the final episode, but he hopes fans will eventually see those scenes in a DVD/Blu-ray release.

Katims says he had a clear vision of a somewhat sad ending, but balanced with some hopeful, happy moments that would leave fans on a positive note.

“To me, the thesis statement of (a critical montage scene) reminded me of the thesis statement of the whole show: No matter what curveballs are thrown at you in life, your family helps you get through it. To me, the spirit of that montage was really about seeing this family continue to grow and expand and thrive in different, and sometimes unexpected, ways,” says Katims.

“Because the whole thing was set in motion by a death, it didn’t seem appropriate to have that montage be about the difficult times. It seemed to suggest more celebratory times.”

TVLine also has a look at the new season of “Suits” and asks executive producer Aaron Korsh if the Louis character has been made too unlikable.

“I guess I would say that, first of all, you have to remember that people hated Louis in the first season, in particular, and maybe even into the second season. That was one of my goals: to take a person that you utterly hated and turn him into someone that you really loved, and the way to do that is to just show their vulnerability,” says Korsh.

“Having said that, there was some concern — ‘Is he going too overboard? Will he not be able to recover?’ — but that was dissuaded internally pretty easily.”
