Broadway’s ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ recoups its capitalization

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The British have another hit on Broadway: “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”

Producers of the London hit said Monday that the play has recouped its $4.75 million capitalization.

It’s based on Simon’s Stephens’ adaptation of Mark Haddon’s bestselling 2003 novel. Both look at the world through the eyes of a smart yet very challenged teenager with an unspecified condition like Asperger’s syndrome.

The National Theatre put it in its smallest theatre in England and gave it a 40-performance run. But great reviews soon helped it jump to the West End’s Apollo Theatre, where it won seven Olivier Awards. Then the roof of the theatre collapsed during a December performance, injuring almost 80.
