Brand of Granny Smith and Gala apples recalled due to listeria concerns

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled a brand of apples because they may be contaminated with listeria.

The recall affects Granny’s Best and Big B Granny Smith and Gala apples, exported by Bidart Bros. in the United States, and sold in Ontario and Quebec.

Importers of the recalled products include Beauvais Ltee. and Courchesne Larose.

Consumers should throw out the affected products.

Food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell spoiled. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
