Rob Ford says tumour shrunk by more than half

Rob Ford says his main tumour has shrunk by more than 50 per cent.

Toronto’s former mayor confirmed the news to CityNews political specialist Cynthia Mulligan, saying he is in the hospital for his fifth chemotherapy session and is scheduled to be released on Friday.

Ford says his last chemotherapy treatment will be on Friday and the next step is 25 sessions of radiation.

Doctors have not provided an update on his condition.

In mid-September, Ford was diagnosed with malignant liposarcoma — a rare and aggressive form of abdominal cancer.

On Wednesday morning, Ford’s brother former city councillor Doug Ford and his mother Diane will present a $40,000 cheque to Humber River Hospital from the sale of bobbleheads.

In addition, the Ford family will also donate $50,000 of their own money to the hospital.

Before he received his diagnosis, Rob dropped out of the mayoral race after doctors said he had a “fair size” tumour in his abdomen for which a biopsy was being done. He opted instead to run for city council.

He was voted in as councillor for his old Ward 2 Etobicoke North on Oct. 27.
