Police make 2nd arrest in death of Markham woman

York regional police have arrested and charged a second suspect in connection with the death of a Markham woman last week.

Aleeya Raza, 28, was found in critical condition with obvious signs of trauma in front of her home on Norbury Drive, in the 14th Avenue and Markham Road area, on Nov. 28.

She later died of her injuries in hospital.

Rustom Irani, 31, of Markham, faces a charge of first-degree murder and will appear in a Newmarket court on Friday.

On Wednesday, police charged Heather Speed, 34, of Oshawa, with first-degree murder in the case. Her court appearance, also in Newmarket, is on Dec. 11.

Neighbours say the house where Raza lived was being used as a rental.

City of Markham officials say the property was the subject of complaints and investigations.
