Police identify victim in Canada’s Wonderland fatal stabbing

York police have identified the victim who died after a stabbing at Canada’s Wonderland early Sunday morning.

Kevin Ramkalawan, 21, from Toronto, was stabbed to death in the parking lot of the amusement park, at Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive West, in Vaughan.

Police were called to the scene around 12:30 a.m. and, when they arrived, found two men with stab wounds.

Ramkalawan was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man, 18, also from Toronto, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is now in stable condition in hospital.

Police said there was a fight between two groups of people as they were leaving the park. It continued into the parking lot, where several people were stabbed. However, police said only two victims were located at the scene.

Investigators are asking any witnesses to come forward.

“We’re appealing to anyone that may have any information on what took place here to contact York Regional Police as soon as possible — anyone that might have video … from their cellphones,” Const. Andy Pattenden said on Sunday.

The park’s annual Halloween Haunt event was taking place on Saturday night, but Pattenden said it doesn’t appear to be related to the stabbing.
