Questionable caption for Canucks defenceman causes outrage online

A caption on the Vancouver Sun’s website caused a bit of a stir on social media on Tuesday night.
Vancouver Canucks defenceman Jordan Subban was pictured celebrating with teammates after scoring a goal against the San Joe Sharks. Below the photo, the caption indicated he was the “dark guy in the middle.”
That caption didn’t last long, as the article has been updated, and the featured photo has also been changed.
Gillian Burnett, the paper’s deputy editor, took to Twitter to address the post. She said the cutline should never have been written and adds the newspaper will be looking into what happened.
She added that she shares the outrage people felt after reading the caption.
