Tory surges ahead of Ford in latest Nanos poll

Toronto mayoral candidate John Tory has a healthy lead over his rivals, Rob Ford and Olivia Chow, according to the last poll by Nanos Research.

The latest survey has Tory at 42 per cent, with Ford and Chow neck and neck at 28 per cent and 26 per cent, respectively.

David Soknacki barely made a bump with only three per cent.

These numbers show a growing support for Tory compared to a Forum Research poll conducted last week, which had him at 34 per cent – a mere three per cent higher than Ford.

The Nanos poll also showed that if the election were held today, Tory would beat Ford in both North York and Scarborough where support for Ford’s subway extension plan is high.

The survey was conducted between Aug. 27 and 31 and polled 1,000 Toronto residents. It is considered accurate within 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

The Nanos Research poll was commissioned for CTV and The Globe and Mail.
