Surveillance video released in Sonia Varaschin murder investigation

Investigators have released a surveillance video taken near the location where Sonia Varaschin’s vehicle was abandoned four years ago.

Varaschin, 42, an Orangeville nurse, was reported missing on the morning of Aug. 30, 2010. Her body was found in a wooded area off Beech Grove Sideroad in Caledon on Sept. 5, 2010.

The video is of a gazebo located in Alexandra Park in Orangeville. The park is behind the Orangeville Town Hall and in an area close to where Sonia’s vehicle was left in the early morning hours the day she went missing.

The video depicts two people in a gazebo at about 5:58 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2010. Police say the two are potential witnesses and are not suspects in this case.
