Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in Oshawa collision

A Clarington man is in hospital with serious injuries after he was launched from his motorcycle in a multi-vehicle collision in Oshawa on Friday afternoon.

The 49-year-old was stopped on his motorcycle on Winchester Road, west of Simcoe Street in north Oshawa, when witnesses say a pickup truck travelling east on Winchester collided with the back end of the motorcycle.

Durham police say the force of the collision wedged the motorcycle beneath the pickup truck and sent the rider and bike crashing into two minivans which were stopped on the road.

After being extricated from between the vans by Oshawa firefighters and EMS, the motorcyclist was taken to a trauma centre in Toronto by air ambulance and remains in stable condition.

None of the other motorists involved reported any significant injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Durham region police at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5255.
