Peel police have charged a 24-year-old Brampton man after a stabbing late Friday night

It happened around 11:30 p.m. at a bus stop on Eastbourne Drive, near Torbram Road and Clark Boulevard.

Const. Thomas Ruttan said two men got into a fight at a bus stop. It’s alleged one fled and the other chased him down and stabbed him.

Paramedics took the victim to Sunnybrook hospital, where he’s in critical, but stable, condition.

About 20 minutes after the stabbing, police arrested a man and a woman and took them in for questioning.

Shermmar Doyon Cooper was charged with aggravated assault and was in custody awaiting a bail hearing on Saturday. Police released the woman unconditionally.

It’s not known if there was a relationship between the accused and the victim.

Police said they’re not looking for any other suspects.
