Etobicoke teacher accused of sexually abusing student

An elementary school teacher with the Toronto District School Board is accused of sexually abusing a student.

Toronto police say a teacher at Hollycrest Middle School at 630 Renforth Dr., near Rathburn Road, was in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy at the school.

The Grade 8 teacher, Joseph Diletto of Mississauga, was arrested on Wednesday. He faces three charges: sexual interference, sexual exploitation and sexual assault.

TDSB spokesman Ryan Bird says the teacher, who has taught nine years at Hollycrest, is off on “home assignment” pending the outcome of the police investigation. No further details were immediately available.

Diletto, 34, was scheduled to appear in court Thursday for a bail hearing.
