MILWAUKEE – A California woman who got kicked in the face after trying to climb into the giraffe exhibit at a Madison zoo has paid a fine and apologized.
Police say 24-year-old Amanda Hall, of San Luis Obispo, California, tried to get into the pen at the Henry Vilas Zoo late Saturday afternoon.
Hall tells WISN-TV (http://bit.ly/1p0WspT ) the 2-year-old, 12-foot-tall giraffe named Wally ate some grass from her hand, licked her, then kicked her in the chin. Police ticketed Hall for harassment of zoo animals, which carries a fine of $686.
Hall tells WISN-TV she’s paid the fine. She says getting kicked in the face seemed like punishment enough.
The police report says Hall told officers she climbed into the exhibit because she loves giraffes.
