Tudos says victim, the driver of the other vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the dump truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators are speaking to witnesses to try to determine the cause of the crash.
“At this point we’re taking statement from witnesses,” said Tudos. “This is a busy intersection so we had a lot of people come forward to speak to our investigators.”
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
Highway 50 was closed for several hours between Ebenezer Road to Queen Street while police investigated. The road reopened around 5 a.m.
