Toronto police have arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged sexual assault inside a woman’s home in the Bathurst Street and St. Clair Avenue West area.

A woman, 27, said she woke up around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday to find a man standing over her bed, armed with a knife. Police said a sexual assault took place. Police said the woman able to fight him off and call police. The suspect then fled.

“That’s scary, that’s really scary,” one resident told CityNews. “Have been living here for over 20 years, never seen something like that.”

The home is located on Lyndhurst Avenue.

The woman received minor injuries.

“Under the circumstances, [the victim is] very upset. She is shaken up. She physically appears to be in good condition,” Ross said.

Two people were in the home at the time, Ross said.

Earlier on Tuesday, police questioned a man found nearby wandering around without shoes. It’s not yet known if this is the same man police arrested.

Christopher Barber, 26, of Toronto was arrested and faces four charges, including break and enter and sexual assault with a weapon.
