Screen legend Lauren Bacall dies at 89

Hollywood legend Lauren Bacall has passed away. She was 89.
The Humphrey Bogart Estate announced her death on its verified Facebook and Twitter pages.
“With deep sorrow for the magnitude of our loss, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall.”
A fashion model and bit-part New York actress before moving to Hollywood at 19, Bacall starred in her first film To Have and Have Not with Bogart in 1944.
She achieved immediate fame with one scene when, while leaving Bogart’s hotel room, she murmured:
“You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.”
The two married a year later. They were together until Bogart’s death in 1957.
Some of her other most notable films include The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage (1947) and Key Largo (1948).
Her sly glance, with chin down and eyes raised, added to her fame; she was nicknamed “The Look.”
She was nominated for an Academy Award, won two Tony Awards and received an honorary Oscar in 2009.
TMZ reports that Bacall suffered a massive stroke at her home in New York.
