‘Jaws’ to kick off Steven Spielberg-centric Sail-In Cinema in Toronto

By The Canadian Press

TORONTO – Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water, Toronto’s annual Sail-In Cinema festival will kick off this week with “Jaws.”

The classic 1975 blockbuster will kick off a three-day festival that will centre on three of Steven Spielberg’s best-loved films.

After “Jaws” launches the fest on Thursday, “Jurassic Park” will screen Friday with “E.T.” closing things out on Saturday night.

Sail-In Cinema is billed as the “world’s first two-sided floating movie cinema.”

Movies are shown on a double-sided screen set on a barge in Toronto Harbour, allowing locals to watch the movies for free from Sugar Beach or Lake Ontario.

The inaugural festival was held in 2011, and organizers say that last year more than 6,500 people and 90 boats came out to watch.
