Man dead after Etobicoke stabbing

The homicide unit is investigating after a man in his 40s was killed in a stabbing in Etobicoke early Saturday morning, police confirm.
It happened around 3 a.m. at a building complex on The West Mall, near Highway 427 and Rathburn Road.
Paramedics said the victim had been stabbed more than once and was pronounced dead before the ambulance could leave the scene.
Det. Mike Carbone says the circumstances surrounding the stabbing aren’t yet clear but it appears the victim was targeted.
“It’s still very early. We’re speaking to witnesses. We have some surveillance video to review,” he explained. “At this point we’re still trying to track down some witnesses who can lead us to the persons responsible.”
No suspect information has been released.
Members of the community say the victim was the father of five boys and describe him as a good man and a good father.
City councillor for the area Peter Leon stopped by the scene and expressed his condolences to the family of the victim.
“My heart and my sympathies go out to his family – especially to his children,” said Leon.
Police are also probing another stabbing which happened around 5 p.m. Friday near McCowan and Ellesmere roads.
It’s alleged one man stabbed another during a fight and then fled.
The victim had non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is black, in his 20s or 30s, five-foot-eight, with black hair and a medium build. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, a white shirt and grey sweatpants and was carrying a black, string backpack.
