Teen girl who died on Bradford soccer field identified

The 15-year-old girl who died after getting trapped under the crossbar of a soccer net in Bradford on Wednesday has been identified.

Friends, neighbours and people at the girl’s school Thursday identified her as Jaime Palm.

People posted their condolences on social media, describing her as the captain of her team.

A particularly touching photograph was posted of the of the team with its members wearing fancy dresses paired with their soccer socks and cleats.

South Simcoe police said she was playing on a sports field in Bradford, north of Toronto, with another 15-year-old girl when she somehow was injured by the crossbar.

She was rushed to hospital, where she died.

It’s not clear just what happened with the crossbar and police didn’t immediately provide more details.

The death is being investigated though foul play is not suspected.
