Flames ripped through an unfinished home in the Eastern Avenue and Leslie Street area early Thursday morning, destroying the house and damaging two neighbouring homes.

A man taken out of the damaged home was assessed for injuries by ambulance workers on the scene, but was not sent to hospital.

Firefighters were called to the two-alarm fire on Minto Street just before 3 a.m.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to investigate whether the fire is suspicious.

Police said witnesses reported seeing two young men leaving the area at the time of the fire.

Police have obtained security footage and continue to investigate.

A nearby TTC streetcar yard was not affected, but the 501 Queen streetcar was diverting from the area. The diversion has since ended.
