2 men arrested in 2012 Leslieville murder

Police have arrested and charged two more suspects almost two years after a man’s body was found in a Leslieville park.

George Fawell, 24, was found stabbed to death in Jimmie Simpson Park, near Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue, on Aug. 24, 2012.

Police say the cause of death was stab wounds to the chest and chopping wounds to the neck and head.

Fawell was reportedly discovered with his wrists bound. Police said they believe the attack on Fawell continued even after he died.

At the time, Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux said “(It’s) one of the worst types of sharp force injuries I’ve seen since I’ve been at the homicide squad.”

Last week, Wayne Estwick, 26, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with forcible confinement and aggravated assault.

And on Monday, Mauro Granados-Arana, 25, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement.

Two women were arrested last spring in connection with Fawell’s murder:  Lori Ann Crook, 39, who’s been charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement, and Ashley Andrews, 28, accused of accessory after the fact to murder, obstructing justice, failing to comply with probation and drug and weapons charges.
