Queen & Broadview closed until July 25 for TTC work

Drivers will likely encounter traffic headaches in Toronto’s east end starting on Monday because of a major intersection closure.

Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue will be closed until July 25 for TTC track construction.

During this closure, the City of Toronto engineering and construction services and the TTC said drivers should prepare for not only the road closure, but for reduced parking in the neighbouring areas and increased traffic along side streets.

Drivers heading westbound on Queen will be diverted at Carlaw Avenue, while eastbound traffic will be diverted at River Street. Also, motorists travelling northbound on Broadview will be diverted at Eastern Avenue, while southbound traffic will be diverted at Dundas Street East.

Access to the northbound Don Valley Parkway from Queen will remain open.

Pedestrian access will not be affected.

During the closure, the 501/301 Queen and 504 King streetcars will be diverted, while the 502 downtowner and 503 Kingston Road streetcars will be replaced by buses.

The TTC also plans to increase north-south bus service on Greenwood, Jones and Pape avenues to help get people to the Bloor-Danforth subway line.
