A four-year-old child has been taken to a Toronto hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga, Peel police say.

The child was first taken to Trillium hospital with serious injuries following the 3:30 p.m. Wednesday incident at Hurontario Street and Park Towers Avenue, near Queensway East.

The child was expected to be flown to SickKids hospital by Ornge air ambulance but was transported by ground.

The Major Collisions Bureau is investigating.
